Ok i tried the hair dryer idea..and that'* a negative..wouldn't budge. ..So i called my local pontiac dealership and talked to their partsman guy. He told me that I either have to go through the rear vents to the back seat...or TAKE OUT MY WHOLE CENTERPIECE. I was quite pissed when he told me that. So most likely wednesday after school i'm gonna drive out there and talk to the guy and see what i can do. ..Wow, what a bitch just for a friggin center cousil plastic replacement.

consol bin lid latch
Know this has been discussed lots, but here'* my story, bought my '95 with busted console bin lid latch ("hook" part at end of latch that sticks out from underside of bin lid busted off, and gone, possibly fallen into bowels of console)
Very quick, cheap fix - removed tension spring from bin lid hinge, latch may still be broken, but at least bin lid stays shut (remove bin lid from hinge, slide out hinge pin, remove spring, reassemble)
When ready to do it right, (since cup holder was also busted, and I was replacing that too) used a small section of the broken cup holder where the cup holder arm wraps around the pivot pin, if you nibble it off carefully with side cutters, it'* just the right size and shape to replace the missing hook. I notched the latch where the break was, with a matching notch in the section of cup holder that becomes the new hook (so it'* easy to keep in position while setting), epoxy hook to latch with PermaPoxy 2-part 5 minute epoxy, let set, then strengthen with 2 layers of fiberglass tape soaked in epoxy, wrapped from tip of hook, around outside curve of hook, and all the way up outside edge of latch, clean-up with file after sets, paint black, works great and stronger than original.

Before you deal with a dealer, re-read Will'* post
Here'* what I did to replace mine (just a couple month'* ago)
Open console lid
Unscrew lid from hinge
pop out the rear liner panel inside the console
use a (I think) 10mm wrench/socket to remove the two nuts that you really can't see too well that are holding the hinge on
remove the 2 screws at the front of the bezel
remove the screw at the front (under the seat control switches)
I don't care how many different ways you look at it, there are 2 studs attached to that hinge, and you have to unbolt it before that bezel will come out
oh, and you dont have to remove the rear vents--cant get to it that way anyhow

1) It'* CONSOLE, not "COUSIL"!!!
2) On mine, the bottom panel inside the storage compartment (under the flip-top lid) is removable, to reveal mounting screws underneath. There'* a finger hole at one end or the other to allow you to pull it up and out, to reveal the hardware underneath. Not sure how much you're trying to remove of the center console but I figured I would point that out.
