Default Estimate usage out of a Intake

What is an average life of a upper intake manifold for a series 2? Is there a better aftermarket manifold I can purchase somewhere?

I'm pretty sure there is one that you can purchase... if my memory serves me correctly. Try the series 2 forum.... I think there may be something in a sticky. :?

All depending. Mine went out about 50k miles. But most that have changed their thermostat to 180 deg. I dont think had to many problems with it.

Yea, I will look around the forum and see what I can come up with.

The thing about mine is that it still has the stock thermostat in it, and the original manifold and it is running at 140k miles. I plan on upgrading the stat real soon, and probably in a month or two look at replacing the manifold. Just to be safe.

I think it was autozone that carried an aftermarket intake for us. It was a lil thicker than the factory was where it would warp. There is a thread about this.

Yea, I just found the thread. I forget to look up past topics a lot. It will probably be well worth it to spend money on a item like this. Not glamorus but useful.

I offer this: http://www.bonnevilleattitude.com/st...roducts_id=701
As a repair solution to this problem. There is another solution too, buy a Dorman Intake. Finally there is GM'* own Intake replacement ($1400) too. In the item'* description above there is the GM TSB regarding this problem too for you to read as well.

i'm fairly certain (but not 100% positive) that the intakes on sale through SPO (read: dealership or gmpartsdirect.com) have been beefed up in the egr area. not completely sure when the change took place, but i'm (again) fairly certain that you will get a better manifold now...

They are. The new intakes should be factory installed on the 99'*.

If you have any doubt about whether you have the new or old intake, look at the casting marks on the top of yours.
