No Cruise Control After Changing TPS
Hi,
I changed the Throttle Position Sensor on my 1994 SE last week and now my Cruise isn't functioning. I re-connected the wiring harness so I don't think that is the issue.
The cruise was working previously and now the symptoms are simply a lack of response when I attempt to use it.
Is this likely the Module or something else I may have done? Also, I don't know exactly which item is the Cruise Control Module when I'm under the hood.
Any advice or help is appreciated. Let me know if any more background info is needed.
Bill

Also check vacuum lines. They make the cruise do its thing. You were right in the middle of the biggest vacuum line there is...the brake booster. Plus all the other cool ones.
Hopefully when you open the hood you don't see a Bill.....aka tools that should have been taken out before closing the hood...2x lately...but never before!

Hey,
Thanks guys. I found the module (thanks for the pic) and I checked the vac lines. they appear to all be connected. As it'* a 94, some of the hosing for the lines is a bit worn and possibly cracked. Do you think I should change the vac lines and give that a try?
Cruise obviously isn't crucial, but I'll sure miss it on those long trips....

Bill I went to my local Advance Auto (little over 1/2 mile) when I did my front exhaust manifold because my vacuum lines looked pretty bad. Changed out the ones up front and didn't mess with the back. But there'* a huge difference and for $4 in the HELP section there is a piece of hose about 4-5ft. Once you finish doing the vacuum lines use the rest for the super secret method of draining a little off the radiator during t-stat change...lol

OK, sorry to be such a newbie, but where is this HELP section of which you speak? Is that here on the frum or did you mean at Advance Auto?
Thanks again Bill

Sorry...It was a little late for me.
If you walk into an Autozone or Advance there'* usually a section dedicated to all this red packaging. Clips, tough to find little parts, door handles, things like that. All the packaging for it all is bright red and stands out. The name on everything is "Help!"

Bill and Bill, I suspect a bit more than a coincidence with the TPS. I think some more in-depth troubleshooting on the new TPS (compared to the old) and the wiring is in order.

Oh nuts. Bill....this is Bill speaking...and the other Bill has just spoken... (everyone clear on who'* who?....I need a drink)
I find that he'* usually on the money with his diagnosis...
(Bill...I still gotta clean those stupid wheel sensors...lol) Bill can we give the other Bill some ideas of how to diagnose that TPS? I'm outta my league there.

Really, it seems like there were a lot of Bills when I was younger, but it doesn't seem like any kids are named Bill anymore. Go figure.
Any help in testing the TPS would be appreciated. What I did was simply swap out the old for a new one. I situated it such that the lever on the TPS was behind the pin extending from the throttle. I think that'* correct.
Here are a few pictures of the area, let me know if a clearer view is needed.
Thanks agian guys!!
