Default idle problems

My 98 SE sometimes refuses to idle. It started out as a cold engine problem but now can happen cold or hot. I can always keep the engine running by pressure on the accelerator. The problem comes and goes. Any ideas are appreciated

Do you have a check engine light on? If so, get the codes scanned. AutoZone (or the like) will do it for free.

The problem has worsened. The engine will not idle and runs very rough. Check engine light is now on. Not sure I can get it to Auto Zone or anywhere else for that matter.

The first suggestion in a case like yours is to clean the TB and IAC.
