Default Identifying engine and transmission

Hi All,

I've got a 1995 Pontiac Bonneville, and I'm not sure which engine and transmission I have. Can anybody point me in the right direction, or tell me how to decode the VIN to determine this?

The engine says "3800" on the plastic cover, for whatever that'* worth.
