Default Monte owner needs help with a 96 SE

my boss drives a 96 bonneville with the 3.8 in it and he says its not running right so he wants me to give it a tune up, hands me the keys and says buy whatever you need and ill give u the money. So i go outside to start the car to go to autozone to pick up some oil, filter, air filter, plugs, pcv valve, etc... the car starts but immediately dies. it will only stay on if i power brake it to over 1300 rpms. so i drive it like that to autozone (drive in 2nd gear to keep revs up speed down Laughing ) get there, tell them to run a diagnostic since check engine light was on, turns out the car was spitting out 8 codes, lol. main was the crank position sensor was bad which explains it not staying on at idle, no biggie since its only a 26dollar part, problem is getting to the sensor, i see the wires right above the crank pulley, but cant see the sensor itself. so decide to swap plugs, ok, break off wire #3, so have to go buy that one, (i have worst luck w/plugs) pcv housing clips break, soo, i guess im just venting now, but does anyone have any advice about the crank sensor?? ps. odometer reads 202,970
i pulled off the water pump pulley to try and get a closer look at, i see the harness but the entire sensor unit is behind a shroud behind the crank pulley. in order to get to the two nuts holding the sensor on, id have to take the crank pulley off, but since im doin this at our shop and not my house w/all my tools, i told him to take it to a shop to do it so they can do the timing if it moves.
Not sure if he got everything fixed or now, but what is everyone'* thoughts on this?
