Please post what year / model car you have. If it'* a mechanical problem, I'll move it to the appropriate folder based upon your year. Thanks!

Thanks...I started to assume based upon your name, but that isn't always the case.
The gearheads can better answer your question...but let me ask a few more to give them more info. I'll assume you've had the car for a while and this is a new issue.
Is the gas smell always present, or only when the gas tank is full, half, etc?
When was the last time you replaced the fuel filter?

Ah...okay. But no, it'* not a normal thing to smell and I'd be careful until the problem can be figured out. There'* been issues with faulty fuel regulators (though I don't know if it was with the 95'* or not...) ....it could be anything from rusty fuel filter, bad fuel lines, or a hole in the tank itself. But I'll let the Gearheads help you out from here.
When you get a chance, edit your Profile (link at the top of the page) and add your year/model to your signature section...that way it will be present on all your posts and you won't need to clarify it each time.
Good luck!

Unless the tank was overfilled and the excess went into the charcoal canister...I'd assume you have a fuel leak and need to start looking for the leak asap.
