Default I NEED HELP WITH MY 1992 SSEi !!!!!!!!!!!

OK, here we go, I have a few problems that I could use some help on.

1) First problem is with the HUD, does anyone know how to get to, remove, and replace the cable that adjusts the HUD on the windshield. When I try to pull the adjust lever, the cable just bends so I have to use pliers and push the cable into the hose to make the HUD higher on the windshield.

2) My second problem is with the traction control. I had to replace the instrument cluster because all the gauges except the tachometer and the speedometer weren’t working and neither was the compass or the driver information center. They all would start working for a few minutes and then shut off again but the traction control would turn on and off when the button was pressed but only when the dash started working again. When the dash wasn’t working, the traction control wouldn’t either. But now that I replaced the instrument cluster, everything works but the traction control. Im not sure if the instrument cluster has anything to do with the TC not working but I figured I would mention it. Do you guys have any ideas on why the TC isn’t working at all?

1. for the HUD most likely the cabel is broken
you must remove the trim panel that is close to thge windshield to get to the HUD...pry UP gently so you dont crack the dash
on the HUD there are 4-5 7mm screws that hold the hud on the dash, and there is also a electrical connector that needs to be undone...
after that the hud can be lifted out....

It will be a real pain to get the HUD cable back in position tho...keep that in mind

on the TC issue that is a weird one....dont know on that ill let the gearheads chime in...

BTW i have a complete HUD with cable if you would need one

For the issue with the HUD cable, I had a similar problem on my '92, and the cable wasn't broken but it was getting stuck/bent where it pushes through the cable sleeve. If I remember correctly, I removed the snap-on dash panel, then disconnected a clip (?) to gain access to the rear of the control lever, and at that point, the cause of the problem was obvious. In my situation, I only needed to lube the cable and reassemble. I can't comment on whether or not the cause of your problem will be the same as mine was, though.

Sorry, but I can't comment on the cluster/traction control question.

When you say not working

Do you mean the light won't work on the cluster or the button light is also giving trouble.?

Thanks for the help with the HUD cable. The cable is getting bent where it pushes through the cable sleeve. Now, the light for the traction control on the dash wont turn on and there isnt a light on the button itself. Is there another way to see if its working because for all I know it could be on right now.

Replace the lamp in the cluster and the light on the button will probably start working again.
