Intermittent A/C question
I have a 96 SE that until a few weekends ago the A/C was not working. I was changing plugs and wires on it and afterwards the AC started working. My assumption is that the harness that comes off of the compressor has a loose connecton somewhere, but where? Anyone else run into this? It is currently working about 75% of the time but I live in TX and right now it is probably about 120 in the shade so A/C is getting to be a necessity. Do compressors get dead spots in them like DC motors do? I don't think it is the compressor because when it is working it blows ice cubes at you. HELP

"98 SE, 3800, pretty standard Bonneville. I had to put a new intake plenem on about 10 months ago, and i just put a new water pump in July. I started having problems with the a/c very early in the year, maybe around Feb, March. There'* about 95000 miles on it. Other than the a/c it runs good.

maybe your a/c pressure switch is messed up, there are 2 pressure sensors on my ('87 bonnie) a/c system and I do beleve at least one of those controls when the compressor is deactivated. Maybe its one of those thinking presssure is too high all the time and doesn't let teh comp. turn on.

Been a while since i've logged on here. I have my AC problem fixed. It turned out to be a bad connection on the compressor. The weather pak connector was barely clipped on and iff I poked at it with a stick while the car was running it would start working. I replaced the connector and it has been freezing me out daily.
