Running Rich
My car has always run rich. Its an L67 trait. However, today my exaust smelled like fresh out of the pump gasoline. Can KR cause rich conditions? You'd think L67s that use more air would run a better air to fuel ratio than NA. :?

A tired or weak O2 will dump too much fuel all the time. Smelling filthy rich sounds more to me like a miss. That unburnt fuel from the missed cylinder dumps right to the back. Also keep in mind that running rich long term can kill your Cat.

Have your O2 sensors replaced (if you have 75k+ miles) and check to see if you have a missfire in one or more of the cylinders. Also, check your air filter to see if it is clogged. Get this fixed quick or else you are going to need a catalytic convertor pretty soon because it will clog with all the unburnt fuel and carbon.

The car hasn't thrown any codes. Then again my SES light may not work. It runs smooth under load but has a rough cold start up. Whats the code for bad O2?

I realize there are some things that must be present to throw a code, but I didn't have an O2 Sensor in my car when I initially fired her up, and ran like that for ~1.5 weeks. Never threw a code. But I also never drove the car or anything.. but she did get up to operating temp during that time. Although you do have an OBDII setup and all that wonderful greatness.. just saying it may never even throw a code. However, mine has the availability for the system running overly rich, or overly lean.. so if your'* was operating correctly, it probably would have thrown that code if you could smell gas from it. Usually a misfire is audible [at least, in my experience with them]. So, i'd think you could hear it. But you never know.
