HVAC issues
I’m hoping that I can lean on muh buddies to troubleshoot a problem. Here it is:
92 SSEi, 3.8 */C, Gen 1
I pulled into the garage and turned off the car and got out. I heard a fan going, which is normal, until I realized it was the blower fan for the heat/AC. I started the car, turned off the climate control and turned off the car – and the fan was still running. Taking a closer look, I set the air so the fan was blowing out the dash. When I turned the car off, the fan continued, but on defrost. When I started the car, the blower changed back to the dash. I attribute this to loss of vaccum in the system allowing the vents to 'move'. Not the issue, just detail.
I disconnected the battery to see if the control might reset – it did not. I took the dash apart and disconnected the automatic climate control and then put it back. The fan still blows.
I reasoned that it might be the relay for the blower, so I replaced it. No change, it still runs.
At the moment, I have simply disconnected the plug to the blower so that I could drive the car without killing the battery.
Any ideas?

Your blower control module needs to be replaced. It has gone bad.
