Default How/Where to Buy Replacement Keyless Remote for 1994 SE

The keyless remote I have for my 94 Bville has quit working. I've checked battery and it'* OK. Sometime when I tap the unit against a hard surface and then try it, it works.

Where is the best place to buy a replacement and how do I know that one I buy will operate with my car. Is there some sort of programming I have to do when i get it?

Thanks,

Mike

Check the part number on the back of your remote, then start surfing ebay in search of one that has the same part number. Then you'll just have to program it. Procedure is in tech info.

Default Keyless Remote

Which numbers on the back of the remote are the critical ones. I see a Model/FCC number and a DOC/MDC Number and a number xxxxxx.68.69?

Which do I try to match?

Thanks,

The only number you need to match is the GM part number. Here'* one for sale on ebay that may work on your car. See if the GM part numbers match up:

Try taking it apart yourself (look, you have nothing to lose at this point), carefully lift out the rubberized button panel, and you should find a plastic pop-button contact sheet positioned over the circuit board, with little black carbon pads that are supposed to contact finger grids on the circuit board when you press the buttons. Clean the board as necessary with alcohol or contact cleaner, then get the contact sheet properly lined up over the board, put everything back together, and see if it works again now.
