My son has just informed me that the transmission seems to be slipping in his 1993 Bonneville. (160,000 with a new engine about 1k or so ago)

Tranny fluid is new and bright red, at the appropriate levels.

Car starts fine. Shifts smoothly into drive, but when you step on the pedal, you simply get an icrease in RPM with little or no movement. Problem goes away after 5 or 10 minute warm-up.

It has been going on since the cold weather has set in. (About a month) It was 20 degrees F here today. The colder the weather, the worse the problem.

I have searched the forum trying to get more clues, but haven't found much.

Anyhelp would be greatly appreciated.

When the fluid was changed did you have the filter changed?

As far as the filter, I have no clue. We bought this car at the side of the road about a year and a half ago. Just a "beater car" for the son to get around in. (I was actually gonna pass on the whole idea, but I let my wife and son talk me into it....)

I was just wondering if this "transmission cold slipping" thing was a well-known trait of the make/model.

I guess it'* just time to take it somewhere and have the tranny pulled apart to get an idea of what I actually have.

I'm guessing the pics in your sig were taken at North Point. (It'* the only place on the shore I can remember rock like that, but I bet I'm guessing wrong)

Yes, North point. The lake level was done this year and there was no waves, so I took advantage of that.
