Default Center cuphold ordeal....

Ok, finally tore out my original cupholder/latch assembley. Now I don't know what to do. My old one has the cupholder on it, but the button dosen't work. But the "new" one is just the opposite.

Got a dremel?

I have the EXACT same situation.

I cut slits in the arms for the cupholder and slipped them on. Or I will as soon as I get a bezel assembly that has a working button.

Look at where the cupholder snaps on - if you push the cupholder against the metal rod it'* hooked on, it comes right off. If you were sitting in your car with the cupholder flipped out, you would push it straight towards the back of the car. Just pop the broken plastic pieces off the "new" one, pop the cupholder off the "old" one, and snap it on the "new" assembly. I've popped my cupholder out of my '98 several times, and it always snaps right back on.
