what should i know about going in to this
ok i found a 93 bonneville se that is said to have a leaking head gasket that could get picked up for 400.
i know i know the buick guy found a poncho no its not for me its for a friend but shes cute
1. its a 93 so it has the composite intake correct?
2. does this have the same problems as the l36 motor with the upper intake deteriorating?
3. the 3800 arent known for having head gaskets go out on them. so could it just be the intake manifold thats the whole problem. the oils already drained so im not worried about the bearings.
4. any other common things i could look for while im there?

Composite intake? Yes. The troublesome L36 upper? NO!
Lower intake gaskets? Probably. More than likely.

The fact that the oil has been drained would scaare me off. Sounds way too much like they're trying to hide something.
But then again, I don't know the seller at all, so it could just be my natural cynicism kicking in...

If there is no oil in it at all, and it was just drained without trying to work some more oil into the bearings, I"d be concerned. However, if you don't mind taking the chance of having to replace the engine, assuming everything else is ok... go for it.
