I ordered a new O2 sensor for my '97 SE last friday from GMpartsdirect.com. They had the order processed and shipped by monday I think. I got the part today, went out and got some new tools (All of my other ones are metric , and I got an O2 socket just for fun). Grabbed the Chilton'* and my mechanix to head outside. Popped the cover off the engine, looked around back for the sensor, unplug it and sonofabitch , the sensor on my car is attached to the female side of the plug which is then attached to a support for the fuel lines. My new sensor has the male side, so I've got two male ends to stick together , and well that just doesn't work. The part number on the bag is correct for a 97, double checked against the techinfo section here (and its ACD# is AFS-97), so do I not have a 97 or is the wrong part in the right bag , or do i have to rewire my damn car to fix this.

Help soon, I'm going on a roadtrip for spring break, leaving sunday, don't want 16 mpg driving form Des Moines to Las Vegas, so i must get this figured out

Unfortunately, I've just been informed that the listed part number is incorrect. Well, more accurately, the listed part number is for one of the other O2 sensors on your car. You probably want part number 25312203. I'm going to edit the Techinfo article to reflect this point of confusion.
