The governor is part of the PCM. The easiest way to remove it is to get the performance chip. Plus you will get better shift points, timing, etc... with the chip. A scan tool with wright capabilites might be able to as well but I am unsure.

As far as the 4000 rpm park rev limit, I think it is a failsafe so you don't blow your engine. I have notice that I can't rev it up that high either in park. Then again, there really isn't any need to rev it up that high in park, but you may have a reason too (say a Civic next to you at a light? ).

I know what you mean!

When I did do it (in the past) I seemed like it disabled spark for a second or so. It gave the effect of me pulsing the throttle. :?

The plugs were $38.99 and available at GrandPrixStore.com. I did a few other things at the same time. NGK plugs, Taylor 8mm wires, Fram fuel and air filters, and a 180 thermostat. Overall I defineatly feel an improvement. It'* smoother and faster through the entire RMP range, smoothed out my idle, and runs cooler . From what I understand, Iridium plugs are now OEM equipment on the new GM cars, or at least some of them.

As SSEi has stated... that is the rev limiter.. it doesn't allow you to over rev the engine through spark as stated too.. the Governor for speed is also through the PCM.. in which limits your top speed through cutting off fuel... you can wait for DHP as they are in the works for performance chips for our Bonnies .. however.. I would do the chips near the end as you would have to get it reflashed each time to compensate for any mods you add on.

P.*.
On a side note.. anyone know if any companies out there make downpipe and headers for our Bonnies ?? I find them everywhere for Grand Prix, but don't think their configuration would work with ours...

4000 RPM in PARK!!!!! Are you trying to blow up that engine????? This is why GM did this in the first place to stop people like you from blowing up the engine & coming back and asking it be replaced under warranty too!
