Default Engine swaps

I was trying to search for engine swaps but did not find much info. I was wondering if anyone knows what engine can be used in a 95 SSEI ? Will say a 97-2000 GTP engine mate to the 95 SSEI tranny and run on the 95 SSEI electronics? Would sensors plug up same etc?

Also would a 95 SSEI engine work in a 92 SSEI and mate up to the 92 SEEI tranny? I assume the 92 SSEI ECU wont run the 95 engine so in that case the 95 ECU would have to be used in the 92 .

Sorry for all this consfusion and noob questions.

Thanks
Tom

The 95 */C is actually a Series I, The 95 N/A is a series II. GTP engines are Series II so they will need the whole engine harness and tranny. The 4t-60e or HD tranny'* were used 92-96. 4t-65e or HD were used 97+. the 65'* have more aftermarket support, but seem to fail a little more.

Series I
92/93 Supercharged engines had 205 HP, 4t60 series trannies, and a full OBD 1 eprom.
94/95 Supercharged engines had 240 HP, 4t60 series trannies, and a Hybrid OBD 1/2 computer. These are impossible to get chips for @ this point. But they have a slightly upgraded */C and TB.
92 N/A are EGR less and have a Metal manifold. They use fulcrum rockers.170HP OBD 1 Eprom Chips available. 4t60 trannies
93 N/A got the EGR back, and a plastic manifold. They use less restrictive Roller rockers, 170 HP OBD 1 Eprom chips available. 4t60 trannies
94 N/A Engine itself was unchanged, 170 HP but the Computer was the Hybrid OBD 1/2 system. Same thing as */C, no chips. 4t60 trannies

Series II
95/96 N/A 205 HP, total redesign. 4t60tranny Hybrid OBD 1/2 Computer
96 Supercharged have a Series II L67, 4t60 tranny, OBD 1/2 Computer, 240 HP.
97+ N/A OBD II computer, 4t65 tranny 205 HP.
97+ */C OBD II computer, 4t65 tranny. 240 HP

The 92 PCM is an odd animal, too. I don't recall the differences, but I know the PCM itself is NOT compatible with the 93. For that reason a 94 or 95 swap, or any other year for that matter may require a PCM upgrade, including the entire engine wiring harness.

If you're going to do that, you might as well go Series 2.

www.L67swap.com has alot more info and help on this subject.

Not an issue, if you check the original post. There are differences between the 92 and 93 SC PCM'*. They are not compatible. Whether this is affected by engine sensors, etc, I don't know. I do know the 93 valvetrain is improved over the 92, among other things. There'* a post around here detailing some of the differences.

There Series 2 will mate up to the 4t60e. I am in the middle of similer swap right now only I am using a 5 speed. You will need the 97-2000 harness and can wire it to the 95 PCM. I am doing exactly same to convert from OBD2 to OBD1using a 99 3800sc with 95 PCM in a fiero, but you will need a custom Memcal burnt for the 95 pcm to run the 99 engine. It usually costs around $100 to have the program burnt in your memcal.

If im not mistaken the PCM between the 92-93 are the same both should be 1470'* the harness might be differant (missing/plus a few wires) and the memcal will be differant
