I've read alot of post about trans problems mainly missing gears or slipping well mine just started acting up yesterday. Once it warms up it starts slamming into the next gear, only when up shifting. Any ideas???? Car has 146k on it and I just recently bought it so I have no clue on trans history, checked the fluid and its red and at proper level. Thought about a trans flush but I think that'd be tempting fate. Any help would be appreciated. Thought about taking it to a trans shop but have to do some research as to a good one in my area.

What is the year and make of you car and have you scanned it for codes??

I could be wrong, but it sounds like you may have a P1811 code.

It'* a 98 sse, haven't scanned for any codes. I'll scan it tomorrow when I go back to work.

Harsh shift can be caused by a sticking piston in the shift accumulator.

A harsh shift like you are saying is typically an EPC/PCS soleniod. That'* two names that the soleniod goes by. It'* quite common and some folks have had luck putting in a shift kit and a bottle of Lucas stop slip to bandaid the issue. The correct fix is to lower the drivetrain enough to gain access and pull the side cover. This allows you to swap out the EPC soleniod.

The usual telltale is a P1811 code on it'* own. Many trans codes do not turn the light on and you should scan automatically.

Well the car drove fine today, but I scanned it anyways. Not to my surprise it came up with dreaded p1811. Looks like I'm in line for a rebuild. Car has 146k and I'm assuming its the stock trans so its pulled its weight long enough. Might get the rebuild done soon or just drive it till the trans completely fails.
