Default Oil pressure guage JUMPIN?

Hey guys,

I haven't been on the board in awhile but I need some help.

This afternoon I was driving home from work when i heard the check guages alert come on and i looked at the gas guage (natural reaction) gas was low so i just glanced at that one. I drove a bit more and heard it ding 4 times so i looked at the other guages and the oil guage read 0 so i shut the car off and checked the oil and it was still at the same level as when i changed the oil 3 weeks ago. I also saw no leaks while car was running and fully inspected the oil pan, the gasket, all around to be sure and nothing. Now the question: What is making this happen to my car and also is this just a simple sending unit or is the pump on its way out?

Thanks in advance for responses.

Well.... I'd get a mechanical oil pressure guage, and see what that can tell you. If the I/P and the mechanical aren't reporting the same thing, Get that sensor replaced.

it could be a sending unit possibly. Something similar happened to the 94.

If your gauge is reading zero and you have a puddle of oil under your car, check out that sending unit. Unplug it and look for oil in the connector on the sending unit, as well as on the harness. Oil inside the wiring connection is a sign of a leaking sending unit. If this is the case and you do replace the sending unit, don't forget to clean out the harness as well.

What does your dipstick tube look like? If it'* not the oil pan, it could be a bad main seal.

If your oil pressure is bad, I think changing the oil, and checking the oil and filter for metal shavings is a good thing to do if it'* not apperant why. Spun bearings = bad.

This sounds like sending unit to me as well. Have it checked out. Low oil pressure doesn't mean low oil.

okay did some surveying of the car.

went to the shop wiped down the whole frame where oil was discovered to be a quart low filled and then ran the car for 20 minutes not one drop came outta the car. so i thought it was a fluke so i revved it and no drips. I left the shop and drove home now there is oil outta the engine. where the hell is this leak

anybody have leaks in there car that could help me on where to tighten down or anything of this nature please respond with a messgae
