Default Transmission shutter when going into overdrive

once i am at like 50 mph and overdrive kicks in it shutters for a quick second under the car it looks like a transmission mount is shot the rubber is all ripped up i dunno if that would cause the shutter but i dont think so is my tranny going to poop?

haha! Don't worry about it, its just the engine and trans locking up. if you are under light accel, a shudder is normal to feel. actually is good in my opinion, its tellin yah that OD is working. hah, get used to having a reliable car. It may do odd things, but its not broken...

I'd also look at ignition related issues before concluding on that however.

I have called my old Bonneville many things (usually in anger or disappointment), but reliable was never one of them. Having said that, my car used to do the same thing, sounded kind of like shuddering and spark knock for a few seconds. I never thought it was normal because none of our cars that have an auto transmission do this. I wish I could be of more help on this issue, but I don't think its a normal occurence. I also don't think that the TCC should engage during a gear shift, but rather after the shift is made and the car is no longer accelerating ie: cruising, although it is apparently what was happening to me and the original poster.

hmm, i probably should have been a little more specific on that.

it is not good if it is a HARD lock in, but I was just saying, at low accel, you WILL feel it because the engine is now linked with the entire drive train and you are basically all wind resistence and such is now directly loaded on the engine at a low speed.

Like Don said, if it is a hard TCC lock in, then get your trans flushed and filter replaced, mine has locked up and shifted SO much softer since I had mine flushed.

its good preventitive maintinance even if there are no problems with it.
