Ok, Round 2 with my charging system problems...
Update, I'm still having problems with my Alternator charging up my battery....
I cleaned the battery leads and brushed the ground to the block. I also returned my alternator (after being told these refurbished ones do not always work) and put in a new one...
So I take back the Alternator for return...The parts store said they will do a load test and other test to see what my system is doing or not doing...Right before I get there the charging system starts working for the first time...I noticed the battery gauge in the car jumped from being in the red to 14 and the check gauges light and ring turned off...
Uhhhh! The first time the SOB works is when I'm returning a part...So I left the store but they were nice enough to give me another Alternator...Right before I get home, the "check gauge" light turns on and the tone alerts me...I look and my battery gauge is not back in the red and low on power....
I put in the new Alternator and now it seems to be working off and on..When my battery is charging and everything is working fine, I hear a high pitch hum from the alternator....
The only thing I have not changed is the wire going from the alternator to my red lead on the battery..Also the wire and clip that goes into the alternator is stock...Keep in mind that this car has never been played with...Not even the radio has been changed..Same owner all of it'* life...
Any help would be appreciated...

Do you have a digital camera to take a photo to share with us of the stuck wire and clip going into the alternator?
Is it possible that the plug was put back in backwards...... weirder things have happened before.
Thats normal... the alt is just charing your battery

Thanks Dan, you are clutch on this board..
I will change the wire out and eliminate that as a problem. But let'* hope it fixes it...
If that does not work I will post a picture of the connections on the Alt...
Thanks again!

Ok.. I know we are talking about a bonneville, but what year?
I would suggest looking at the connector to the alternator. In that connector is a wire that turns on the field to generate power. Ensure the contact is in the connector and can make connection with the pin on the alternator.
I'd check the wire between the batter and alt. Being that it'* a part of one cable the other piece of it will got to the starter if I recall properly. Look allt he stuff Dan mentioned..... loose battery cables, corrosion, or a broken cable.
