Leaky coolant, leaky tranny.
Lets start with the coolant:
What I though was an incorrect gasket for my thermostat turns out to be something else, what it is, I dont know. But I did check my dipstick for any water or anything that might not belong there and so far I found none. However I am getting a slow leak. Let me try to describe it.
As you are looking from the front, itsjust behind where the thermostat is, and under. There is what appears to be wet coolant sitting on the metal. It seems to seep from there, then travels down under one of the exhaust pipe, on to the tranny then flows out. Is this a serious problem and can a newbie like me fix it?
I also have a slow transmission leak that I had for a loooong time. What we thought was a bad gasket is not it. I already replaced the gasket, tightened the nuts after a week, and it still leaks but in a unique way. I havent tested it yet but its ether when I start the car or when I shift, because it comes out in little splotches. I would park in a dry part of the garage, and as I would back out just after being 5 minutes of being there, there is a small pool of transmission fluid. Its not alot as I only have to add a quart after every 1000 or so miles. What could that problem be?
Although considering the miles I have on this car this should be of no surprise...

The coolant leak sounds like your throttle body gasket is leaking. Inspect the bottom and around the edges of the throttle body closely. If it'* wet, that'* your leak.
Not sure about your transmission.. Your mileage isn't too high, either. You still have lots of life left!

The leak appers to be coming from below the TB. So I suppose this is also a good time to take that apart and clean it out then.
As for the transmission leak, I can never really point out where the leak is. The only chance i have to jack the front up and have a look is this Saturday. I can put white paper under it too to spot exactly where its dripping from.

Before park it under cardboard or paper, clean the transmission as you best you can. The areas that are already wet should be the areas you focus on...and all the areas below the wetness.

Vital'* right -- clean the heck out of the transmission and everything under the tranny, and wait for it to leak, then trace it to the highest point and you'll most likely find your leak.
Common tranny leak points are the transmission cooler lines, pan gasket, or axle seals.
