How to diagnose security light
My security light came on while I was driving on Thursday. It stayed on for a minute. I had a random thought to jiggle the key (for no good reason other than maybe the key chip wasn't making contact). It went away a minute later.
Anyone have a similar experience? Is there anyway I can figure out why it came on?

I am well aware.
The only security code in there is 58, which is 99.9% of the time a fluke with the 92 PCM. Even if it is correct this time, what does it tell me? I guarantee I have a code 58, but I always do.

When the ignition is turned "ON", the PASS-key decoder "reads" the key resistor pellet. If the proper resistance is recognized by the PASS-key decoder module, it sends a PWM fuel enable signal via CKT 229 to the PCM. The PCM looks for this signal during cranking and allows fuel delivery by enabling the injectors when the signal is recognized. If the fuel enable signal is lost while the engine is running, the PCM will store code 58 and the vehicle will run normally. As long as code 58 is stored, the PCM will ignore any absence of the fuel enable signal and the car will start and run as long as the problem is isolated to the fuel enable circuit only.
Maybe the wires at the ignition lock cylinder are broke causing a loss of fuel enable signal and setting this code. If I understand this correctly, your car may not start if you clear the code 58 and the problem is still present. It may set a different code though because the problem has manifested to a higher level now that the light is turning on?

Um, if that was the case the car usually would not start, this is coming on while driving...

This advice is pointless.
This advice is pointless.
He said the only security core was 58 so I guess that would be the only logical place to start diagnosing? Do you have a better suggestion?
J Wikoff, you said the only security code, but were there any other codes? Anything at all?

EVERY SINGLE 92 on this Forum will flash a 58 when the codes are checked, so don't give me that ****. Got it? Now you get your calculator out and figure out the odds.
You're done in this topic. No more posts in this one for you.
