Coolant Temp Sensors / which is which??
I am trying to test my coolant temp sensors. My 93 ssei has 2. I think one is for the PCM and the other is for the dash gauge. Which one is which? Are they both the same? Advance lists a coolant temp sensor and a water temp switch, GMPartsDirect lists 2 different sensors (12146312 and 15326386), but I can't find anything indicating which one is for what purpose. My best guess is that the one located closest to the TB is for the PCM. Can somebody set me straight?
Thanks,
Griff

The one under the TB (on my 95) controls when the fans kick on, that should be the pcm. The other is probably the gauge.
What problem are you trying to solve?

Tranny hesitaion/chuggle/TC slip, whatever you wanna call it. I have been watching the other threads on this. Brand new and recently checked coils, wires, new plugs, injectors, egr (went throught 4 to find a good one), tranny rebuilt less than 30K ago (little over a year), new MAP, new FPR, new fuel pump. Just did the BCA mod, checking the TPS and coolant sensors tonight or tomorrow. I am basically getting noticable slip at 80 mph on cruise pulling a long grade and can see the tach go from about 2600 to 2400 (not sure if this is right but it is anywhere from a 100 to 300 rpm drop). I can also notice slip on a hard start from a standstill winding through 1st and 2nd, not sure if it is related or not. After I do the TPS and coolant sensors checks, I'll probably head over to my tranny tech and bug him. If I find anything, I will post in the pther threads about this. Right now I am leaning towards the two things above, but I also just figured out that my car does not have an additional tranny cooler (DUH, I thought the aux was aftermarket, didn;t realize it was stock), so that is going to be installed real soon.
