Hey dude,
I had the same problem - couldn't get the lock out. What I did is - I unscrewed the lock to have it hanging within the door and after that I took a rubber band (about 1/8" width) and using two hex keys I pulled it trough the lock hole and wrapped the lock mechanism so that it pushes on the bumper piece. Once I had both ends out of the door lock hole, I tied them with a wire, pushed the whole thing inside and screwed the lock back in.
If you choose to do this though, try just pressing on the bumper with your finger (while the lock is SCREWED in) and pressing lock/unlock button to see if it will actually work.
In my case, I could lock the door, but when the unlock was pressed, nothing happened - I had to pull the lever out manually every time. So after going through few of the shops and figuring out that it will cost me (the cheapest was $110 for the lock + work), I just did that. 2 weeks already - still works
BTW If you do need a new actuator I found them for about $35 on this site http://www.rockauto.com
Peace,
sasha
