Default Driver Information Display False Alarm - 92 SSE

I have a 92 SSE with a Driver Information Display and I have a tail light monitor false alarm that won't go away. It had a bad bulb when I bought the car last week and I replaced the bulb but the monitor won't reset.

I just found this forum and I appreciate all the information!

Thanks,

Tumbleweed

I'm betting you have a bad or corroded socket. Get another new bulb, and start swapping it in one at a time. I'm betting it'* one of the little 194'*, so you may want to just pull all the bulbs, clean the sockets, and put the new bulbs in.

_Exactly_ which element lights up in the warning display? The worst offender for bulbs at the back seems to be the high-mount brake light in the back window, which has its own little indicator dot in the dashboard warning display. If so, pull the bulb (climb into the trunk to reach it) and if the bulb isn't simply burned out, check the side contact for arcing, pitting or corrosion.

Otherwise, if it complains only when you step on the brake, check the two brake lamps at each rear corner of the car. If it complains as soon as you turn on the taillights, check all the bulbs at the back, and also have an assistant step on the brakes _while_ your taillights are on. Let us know what you find.

License plate lamps often are overlooked.

Default Fuddyduddy121 Wins the Prize!!!!

Problem solved! Fuddyduddy hit the nail on the head. The display said tail light and I did not check the license plate bulbs. Turns out that I had a bad 194 bulb above the license plate.

Thanks guys!!

I had a bad 194 bulb above the license plate and that caused my "tail light" error.

Thanks guys!

Ayup, the "Tail Lamp" warning covers all rear bulbs on the tail/parking circuit.

Hey, I was admiring the rear license plate lighting on mine last night, which is white, and the recess in the bumper that holds the plate bounces light all around the it, so it looks like an entire glowing white frame. Next time I'm out in the garage drinking beer, I'm going to swap in some 194NA (Natural Amber) bulbs and see how that looks...
