Try some penetrating oil like WD40 or BreakFree. let it soak in for awhile, then try again.

I also don't have a flare nut wrench so that might have something to do with it. Does anyone know the size of the nut or at least if it'* metric?

if you cant get it off with a wrench and penatrating oil theres always those good ol visegrips but then get a whole new line it should be metric like a 8mm to a 13 mm

Nothing is coming off except the compression fitting. Time to buy a torch?

Is the nut for the short steel line that plugs into the hub assembly a flare nut or a regular nut? Are things going to explode if I use a flame?

Can't say I like the idea of a torch. You may have to let that oil sit for a few days. There'* a good chance you will end up braking the brake line

if u use a torch beware, watch for fule lines, gas tank, any electrical wires. i used a torch toget a nut off on my 86 town car and i accidently fried the break sensor so my break waring light is stuck on

I guess I'll let it soak. Damn this sucks. Is a torch really that dangerous? I'm not exactly careless but I don't own a fire extinguisher either.

Well the part I would be torching is pretty flexible as I removed the line on one side....I could rest the thing on the floor and be pointing the flame down the entire time.
