Ive got a 93 bonnie SLE, and a good buddy of mine is donating his car and hes ok with me exchanging parts with it. my drivers seat has a little tear in it. heres my dillema, hes got a 92 sse with the dual power seats, and i want both of em. im pretty sure i should be able to interchange them with the 12 way power seats or w/e... hes got the floor shifter if that means anything. his bonnie lasted him 230000 miles and it ran perfect until it quit starting on him. his tranny shifts perfect and i was wondering if i should change his with mine cuz mine sucks lately

First off, ask him how much they are giving him, and if you have that much, buy it.

As for switching the seats, it can be done, but will require some work. First, you'll need the seats, seat controls and wiring harness. the harness will need to be cut out of the old car, and will be under the seat. Also, if you don't have the console, you'll need that or a custom fab job. this is assuming you don't have the 12 way in your car (which should be pretty safe)

Other option is if his motor is dead, swapping yours into it.

Where are you located? A starting issue could be many simple things as well.

yea, i can probably switch the new console with my little cover.. im located about an hour and a half away from chicago. i think hel let me do it for free but i have to make it look like i didnt do it. but how long do you think itl take me to pull everything out and set it up in my car?

You need to pull the carpet in both cars..this means pull the seats, and consoles. Once you've done the first one 1.5 hours maybe to take apart..the 2nd one will take 1 hour. Then remove and swap over the wiring for the seats. Reintall...

well, first off, do you have a center console? If yes, this makes it a little easier.

You'll need to remove both front seats, console, and possibly the carpet from his car. With just the seats and console out, you'll see the wiring where the seats connect and where the console switches connect. those wires run to the driver'* side of the car. You'll need this wiring part. It is about 6-8 power wires and a gound or two and it joins the main wiring harness at the driver'* door area. You'll see to cut all the wires that lead to this connector set. You can see what I am talking about here in my car : Seat Wiring Harness If it the black harness running from the middle of the picture down and you can see the switches coming off it there in the center. You'll need to cut this off at the door. The reason I say you may need to remove the carpet is to remove this. You can just pull the edge out from under the plastic, cut it, and then try and feed it back through the center opening (easiest one) but that is still difficult.

Once you have those all out, you can replace the carpet, console and your old seats into his car. Your driver'* seat will not have power since you too the cable and you'll have to replace the seat switches in the console part with yours if you have it. Besides the seats not working, no one should know the difference, unless yours are cloth, which then I suggest you take the rear seat too, which is easy

As for wiring it in your car, this will not be too hard. It is easiest if you have a plug end from a seat, but can be hard wired if necessary. You'll wire all the power wires to the power side of your old seat plug and the negatives to the negative, run the cables, and then install the seats, carpet, and console in yours and you should be set.
