mine is a 95 bonneville, and it just start to flood out recently. once it warms up, it just floods and dies(yes in traffic, it don't care). it will start right back up, but it must be in park to start. this is quite a problem in the city. is there any way to adjust fuel flow(trim it back) or air flow(increase it) until i have the money to take it to a shop. I have some mechanical skills and automotive experience, but nothing with fuel injectors. surely this can be pacified until i have the money in a week or two to fix it properly. any ideas....

After driving, pull the vacuum line off the FPR and see if there'* fuel in it. If there is, replace the FPR.

Agreed! If it'* flooding, it'* more likely that it'* your FPR than all your injectors.

What makes you so sure it'* flooding anyway? Just to satisfy my curiousity...

what is the fpr. where is it and what does it look like. this mechanic that i know said that the computer is sensing not enough air and trying to add too much fuel to make up for it. it cranks right back up, but just sounds like it is flooded out. you know what i mean. when a carb floods the engine has this drowning sound that it makes. please point me in thright direction. i can handle some things but i am new to fuel injections.

You can't determine flooding by sound. Get a new mechanic.

Your fuel pressure regulator is either on the front or rear of the fuel rail depending on which engine you have. 2 were offered in 1995.

Can you put your year and trim level/model in your signature? What'* the 8th digit of your VIN. You either have a K for the L36, or a 1 for the L67. When we find out what you have, we'll post a pic to help you find your FPR and it'* vacuum line.

'95 se, the 8th # is a k. hey what about oxygen sensors. do they go bad or need replacing. where are they and what do they look like.

There'* only one. It'* in the rear exhaust manifold just before the downpipe. Looks like a sparkplug in the wrong spot. If it'* over 60k miles old, or you don't know how old, change it. But don't start shotgunning parts.

Please check your FPR. Let'* take this step by step and actually find the problem before we start throwing money in multiple directions.

An O2 sensor can run you rich, causing money out of pocket due to poor MPG'*, but it can't FLOOD you.

it turns out that this was a vacuum leak. now i don't know where it was going, but the vacuum connectors that the hoses plugged into where dry rotten. i had to cap off the the vacuum leaks since i do not have the funds to replace as of yet and it is running very well. i am so surprised at the performance of this car now. thanks to all that offered to help and sent me advice. i truly appreciate it more than you will know. i plan to fix this thing up and hang on to it for a while. so i will be back at you as soon as my work picks up and the money to do little cosmetics is in my pocket. i would later on like advice on where to start first and just a little guidance. thanks again to those that responded and especially for the site for the forum to ask teh questions. sincerely, dwfree67

We can fix vacuum leaks with you for very little money. Can you let us know what fittings are leaking? Can you post pics?
