Default Strange Squeaking Noise

Hello,
I have a 1992 Pontiac Bonneville with almost 140,000 miles on it and had it for 2 years and the second owner of it, and I take great care of my cars.

Everytime I turn the steering wheel to the left about 20 degrees or more while driving, I hear a squeaking noise coming from the driver'* side and underneath the dashboard. It doesn't make the sound when you are driving straight or steering to the right. (It'* not the brakes or the serpentine belt.) It'* been going on for 6 months. I took it to a dealer and an independent service shop, and they were to lazy to take it for a drive especially when they were not busy working on other cars at all.

Any suggestions on what the problem is will help.

If it has been this long then it may be something to do with your drive shaft or axle.

Not an expert but it may be a starting place to look. Keep an eye on this post and just wait til the "experts" put in their input.

Good luck

Ok, this might sound dumb, but for starters, is the noise originating from inside or outside the car?

If it doesn't get louder with your head out the window (watch out for large bugs), I'd be looking at every point under the dash that the dash itself attaches to the subframe. Another neat trick to rule out a door seal is to shut the door with a piece of newspaper in between. If it sounds like under the dash, and it'* the door, put the paper on the hinge side, eh? Probably not the door though. Even the fuse panel might be squeaking under there. Tighten every damn bolt you can lay your hands on, but be gentle with the steering column mounts. They can crack if over-torqued.

Sounds resonable, but I still hear it when just driving over smooth terrain when steering to the left. However, I do hear it when going over bumps.

My gut tells me you have an interior trim squeak. The TSB sounds like my problem that started yesterday.
