Default [updated with new pictures] Replacing broke idler pulley

Well it'* like midnight I was running to the atm before I called it quits for the night. And I smelled something odd. My first thought was I just drove over something and got it on my exhaust and was burning off but when I got home I pulled into the drive and this is what I found.

My question is how hard is it going to be to replace this pulley right next to the torque axis mount? Damn it I won't be able to tackle this till Thursday afternoon so in the mean time that belt is coming off and I have no boost .

Any input would be great

Ed

definately the idler, and I'd be replacing with a metal one. The SC tensioner pulley was bad when i bought my car. The ring the belt sits on was totally gone, so the belt rode on the serrated edge of what was left. It actually still worked fine.

Now what would be the easiest procedure to do this? I know the torque axis mount has to be moved but can I just unbolt the 2 bolts on the frame or what. Thanks everyone

Cant you just unbolt the pulley and put a new one on? Mine looks like it can be done that way but then again I have the S1 not the S2.

Just a minute, here....

I don't know about the turbo set up, but without the turbo, changing the idler/tensioner is a snap. The tensioner pulley is attached with a left-hand bolt.

Your remove the serpentine belt as per normal... that is, you put a socket over the idler bolt and force it against the spring to the LEFT.

After the belt is off, the idler/tensioner returns to its stop. Now you torgue the same bolt to the RIGHT. It unscrews (left-hand thread) allowing the pulley to slip off its pin. Replace, tighten, put on belt.

Mine went just a couple of weeks ago... 2 minutes off the freeway, luckily.... and yes, I replaced the plastic one with a metal one.

No it'* tucked behind that torque axis mount. Anyone on the best way to tackle this job? Is it as easy (hard) as supporting the motor and unbolting this axis mount?
