Default 1997 Bonneville sseimotor swap help

I got a motor out of a 1997 bonneville ssei and i put it into a totally dfferent car. I wont saw what kind cause you'll probably laugh your *** off!! Anyhow, i got everything hoooked up, the motor runs perfect for about 5-6 seconds and then just cuts out. I checked both fuel and ignition and both are working normally (from what I can tell). Tried checking vaccuum, getting about 18hg, fuel pressure is at 50psi, and getting a strong spark. Does anybody out there have any ideas what might be going on????

Sounds like a PassKey problem. Did you properly defeat the PassKey system?

And what did you put the motor in? :P

From what I understood, the service manual shows a ground signal from the passkey module to the pcm, i did ground it out.

If memory serves me, I think that the PassKey module needs to send a certain code to the PCM otherwise the PCM kills the engine after a few seconds.

Do you have the passkey module?

Unless you've chipped the PCM, a simple ground won't cut it. If you don't have the PassKey module, try these directions to emulate one:

Well, follow those directions in that link I posted and you should be all set. If you've never built any electronic circuits before, watch out for the electrolytic cap polarization! If you put it in backwards, it will literally explode

The PCM requires a modulated signal from the PassKey module; the circuit on that page emulates the proper signal.

hmm.... ill give it a shot. Do you think you might have a larger photo of the completed part. Ive never built anything like this and a good photot might be really helpful!! If i dont feel to comfortalbe with building this myself, do you think you might be able to build me one? How much would you charge me?

I don't run that other page, so I don't have any photos of the completed project. However, the schematic (which is on that page) is far more important than how the board looks in a photo.

Building the emulator wouldn't be too dificult. If you don't feel comfortable putting it together, I think there are several companies on the web that make PassKey Defeat systems.

For the record, using the component values on http://www.fieroaddiction.com/passkey.html produces the following results:

R3 @ 3.9k and R2 @ 22k = 53% duty cycle square wave at 29 Hz (+/- 7%)

R3 @ 1k and R2 @ 14k = 50% duty cycle square wave at 44 Hz (+/- 7%)

Change the values at your own risk
