Default Oil Pressure Drops to Zero in Park

Hey guys! SO when I put the car in park it it still runs, occasionally the oil pressure guage drops to zero, it beeps, and all that fun. Nothing noticiably happens to the car And after I turn it off and back on its fine. Does this have anything to do with

A) Old oil, (about 4000 miles on it)
B) Oil guage (It also displays "Check Oil Level" for a minute or two when i frist start driving, but it goes away)

If you want to TRY something, replace the oil pressure sending unit. If you want to check it then you need to "T" into the oil pressure with a mechanical guage and read the mechanical guage when the light comes on. If they both drop, you have a problem. If only the cluster guage drops then it may just be a bad sender. Try a new sender.

It could also be wirring issues.

Im not sure how easy it would be to check it with a mechanical gauge becuase I cant find a pattern in when it happens. How complicated is it to replace a sender?

Garb... if the dinger is dinging then the pcm sees the low pressure, so we can rule out the gauge cluster.

And please get a mechanical gauge on there quick... I don't like that zero pressure thing.

Ok, I'll bring it in this weekend and untill then I'll just drive it to work. What could be cuasing that? Is it a sign of upper intake failure?

Not sure how much they run, proabably round $30.

It gets screwed in where your current sending unit is...by the oil filter

Couldn't it mount to the fuel pressure test port on the fuel rail?

Uh..... I believe you are thinking we have a fuel issue....not an oil pressure issue.
