I cannot read the trip or odometer at night in my 1992 SE Bonneville. I had the instrument cluster out and could not identify a burned out bulb or misplaced light tube. It seems the numbers are supposed to be illuminated by a clear plastic light tube that is part of the general panel illumination. It does not seem to get enough light out to do the job.

Anyone else with this problem? Any insights or solutions?

I'd be on a dead bulb. Our dashes have 2-3 layers of circuit board and it'* probably 2 layers in.

Ouch, I hope not. When I pulled the cluster I started to pull the circuit board but experience and wisdom stopped me. It appeared as though one would need to pull the dial pointers in order to pull the board. I have had bad experiences pulling dial pointers that really were never intended to be touched.

Anyone done this? These things are fairly rare. My boneyard only has two.
