I just got my '97 Bonneville SSE last week. It has 98,000 miles on it. So far, I've only driven around town, no highway driving. Today I was driving to my college on the highways. Everything was fine on the way there except for some play in the oil gauge when I'm idling. But on the way back, I was in town and at many stoplights. My oil gauge moved around a lot, then when the light turned green I tried to go but couldn't. The car didn't die, I just couldn't go. I managed to pull into a parking lot and let it sit for a few minutes. It started right up with no hesitation. I got back on the highway and I was going around 70mph, then it happened again. I pulled onto the shoulder and waited and tried to go again. I made it a little further and had to stop at another stoplight. This time I went to take off and couldn't. I ended up stranded in the middle of an intersection. I started it again and got it onto the shoulder. I had it towed and they are supposed to call tomorrow about it. But do you guys have any idea what could be going on? Something similar happened with my '91 Beretta but that car died each time the oil gauge bottomed out. My car now never died. But the 3rd time I lost acceleration, the check gauges lights came on. No strange noises or anything.

Any ideas?

It sat at the mechanics for over a week. No error codes were found. They said that they do know that it'* getting too much gas all at once. But they still haven't pinpointed the problem.

I'd like to know what your transmission fluid looks and smells like.

It'* at the mechanic right now. I've read some stuff on here...could it be the crankshaft sensor? I'm not car savy at all so I really have no idea what it could be.

Could be a clogged cat...report back with what the mechanic finds out.
