fuel pump repalcement ?(Edited yr of car is 94 not 98)
Well I think i figured out why my car was acting up fuel pump was bad quit on me yesterday waht a fun day I had. I replaced it but now the guage does not work. Is there anyway I can fix that or do I need a new sending unit Im tapped out after spending 100..+ for the pump and 30.00 to get help so I could get it out and fixed. I also noticed if I make a sharp turn the car seems to want to stahl could this be the sending unit or not never did this until we changed the pump.
Thanks

First, check your wiring going into the fuel pump. Make sure the harnesses are firmly seated. Also look in the vicinity of the harness connectors to make sure none of the wiring is cut or knicked.
Masterbm--the issue you're about to get at only occurs on 92s. She has a 98.

Well lets see now she does this when going down hill she also did it as I was leaing poarking space car acts like not getting any fuel at all then if I pound the pedal she will take off. I cant figure it out gonna try to take the tank off today and see what I can see if not then I need to figure out if its the sending unit causing this I was told it will make the car act like this and want tot stahl. I cant figure out why isnt the sending unit only for my guage (sorry if I sound stupid but maybe I am at this point). WEll any help please Im leaving here in about 11/2hrs so hope to hear from someone.

The sending unit has no effect on anything but your fuel gauge. But since you were just working in there, I'd suspect you did something while you were there. The sender is delicate. Make sure it has full up and down travel on it'* pivot. Make sure the arms aren't bent.
I assume you replaced the strainer (sock) on the pump as well?

oops
Umm no I didnt replace the sock I wasnt in a good mood after paying 60.00 bucks to tow her and then 104.44 +tx for pump then 30.00 for a second helper (hubby aint to car smart). I filled her upi today all she took was 13.34gallons and she has an 18 gallon tank I'm wondering if she was that low on fuel and without the gauge I have no idea how low she is I put about 230-250 miles on the car about every 4-5 days so maybe she was that low not sure we will see could not pull the tank so had to fill her wanted to wait to do that but 20.00 of gas at 2.87 a gallon aint much gas so that is the story for now so far she has been ok we'll have to see how she does I figure after 125miles ill fill agian and see how much im useing and see how far I can get maybe this will help with the gas milage it was rela bad before and the guage always was off at time it would say empty but only take 12-13 gallons so maybe just maybe Im done now

Michelle, can you put your year and trim level in your signature?
Not replacing the sock was a somewhat serious oversight. That strainer gets old and clogged, and can prevent fuel starvation. At this point, I'd suggest getting a new sock, drop the tank, install it, and check the sending unit while you're at it.
