Default check engine light came on

alright, had my bonne for almost a month now, and just got done doing a few matinence jobs. Changed the plugs and wires, pcv valve, gutted the airbox, put in a 180 t-stat, and cleaned the MAF sensor. as soon as i did all this, i turned on the car, and the check engine light came on. it'* been on ever since. would disconnecting and cleaning the MAF throw a code? anything else that i did that could be causing the problem? i'm going to disconnect the battery for 30 min in the morning and see if the light comes back on, hopefully that will make it go away.

Get it scanned. We can't possibly begin to guess.

Just on a hunch, tighten the gas cap until it clicks.

If that doesn't work, get it scanned.

I've been a victim of the "Gas cap gremlin" a few times

Default scan results

went to auto zone this morning, had it scanned, 2 codes, but they were both the same thing: P0108. Replaced the MAP sensor and reset the codes, no problem now!

heres a picture of what the old MAP sensor looked like.... is it normal for them to come apart like that???

Now that this problem is fixed, i have one more question: i recently installed a 180 t-stat, but i noticed today that i'm still running a pretty high temp. it was in stop and go traffic and during the middle of the day, but i thought the engine wasn't supposed to get that hot with a 180 t-stat... here'* a pic of it at it'* highest

Is that normal? or do i have some other problem here??? thanks

MAF in two pieces is not normal

Temp over 200 sitting in traffic is totally normal. If you are sitting still your engine is generating heat, and if you aren't moving 30+ you have no airflow through the radiator to cool the engine. Your temps will get to 215 before the low speed fans come on.

Turn on your AC. That will get the fan to turn on before it hits 215 and will lower the temps. I have to do it myself once in a while when im sitting in traffic, even on a cold day.

You can go farther and create an override switch...
