I was wondering why when i have 1/2 tank or less my car shuts off when i turn right and give it a little bit of gas? I have been told that it is probably the fuel filter and thats waht i believe that it is but im not sure....any ideas?

This problem has been discussed in quite some detail earlier. It seems to affect only the 1992 models.

it really depends....if its closer to E and i really step on it it will die....and if its closer to half and i get on it a lot it will be noticable that it loses power like gas isnt getting there....but then if its closer to e and i get on it a little not a lot it just loses power....what you guys think? fuel filter or just manufacturing flaw?

I have a similar problem when making right turns on my '92 SSE */c and it only occurs when the fuel tank is less than 1/2 or 1/4 full. Mine stumbles under these conditions, but I always decelerate a little and wait a few seconds for engine power to return, so I don't know if it would stall if I were to accelerate when it stumbles. On my '92, the problem definitely has nothing to do with oil pressure or anything else - it'* absolutely related to the level of fuel in the tank. I know that because I drive the same route to work every day, and drive consistently, and the problem never happens when the fuel tank is 1/2 full or more.

Yes, there were several posts about similar problem(*) in the old posts, but nobody ever found a fix...

Happened in my 92 SSE, my brother'* 92 SE and my mom'* 92 Olds 88. The fuel pickup is too short and mounted to the side, so when there is lower amounts of fuel and it sloshes to the left as in a right hand turn, it gets no fuel. There is a fairly cheap fix that involves either the newer pickup or a reservoir bag on the pickup to compensate for short "no fuel" conditions. I think it was $168 for my brother to get it fixed, don't know how much for mom, and I just keep my tank reletively full.
