Been there! When you hit the 'E' you better be digging in the wallet and looking for a gas station. You have anywhere between 18 and 30 miles left until vapors.

Also, when you get that low in the tank, you can really agitate up sediment and the fuel filter can get gummed up pretty good. Always try to keep no less than 1/8 tank.

I'd like to ante up Kevins 1/8 recommendation and go with at least 1/2 tank of fuel at all times. More during the colder months. Keeping it above half will keep that fuel pump covered to help keep it cool.

Pssssh, I run my tank to E all the time. Always have on all my cars. Never a problem, but that'* probably because I always do it so there'* not too much bad gas.
