Angry Electrical Drian When Driving

Hello All,

I recently replaced the alternator in my 94 3.8 SSEI Supercharged Bon.(loaded) after the Volt light started comming on. Took the old one out (5 min. job) had it tested at a local parts store,- was bad and so I replaced it with a new delco. Tonight I was driving home and noticed all of a sudden all of the lights, inside, outside, dash, blower would dim or slowdown like a power serge or drain for a couple of seconds but no warning lights. It did this twice on the way home, parked it in the garage but it wont do it parked idling. I had the main PCM replaced last May by a GM dealer and they did test wiring, grownds, ignition.. things like that and found no problems there. The battery is new about 3 months old (diehard). So I'm looking for some advice as to were I should start looking first, I'm thinking fuses first but I'm not sure its been a good car up untill the the last year but what do you expect I've owned it for 15 years. Thanks...

Check the battery wires and clean up the connections on both ends. See if that helps out. Check for corrosion inside the cable boots as well.

Sorry, check them first no corrosion, that was done when I changed the battery so I'm good there.

Try out some of these tests and see if that helps.

Hello again,

Got to checking grounds, cleaded some, Ohm'ed wires, checked fuses, bulbs but have not found any problems so far. I don't have ground busses in the floor pan, its a seperate ground wire on bothe sides that ground to a bolt under the dash and those were good to. But when I was testing plug wires there are 3 metal caps I guess you would call them on the boots at the plug on the three plugs closest to the fire wall, I put them back on cuz I changed the plugs and wires the same time I replaced the battery cuz I didn't know why they were there to begin with. So are they there for a reason or can I take them off to eliminate them from the problem. Thanks in advanced.
