Front end squeaking over bumps
The front end of my car always makes a little squeak when going over bumps. It rides smoothly, though. But after a boring weekend, I think I'm looking for something to do.
I've done a little searching on possible causes, so let me tell you guys what I know:
Thoughts?
I've done a little searching on possible causes, so let me tell you guys what I know:
- Sway bar end links were recently upgraded to polyurethane. Center bushings… maybe later.
- Wheel hubs passed the "do a donut and listen" test.
- Brake and power steering fluid levels good; no leaks that I can see.
- Brake pads are silent, and the rotors are a year old.
- Town Fair Tire insists that it'* time for a 10,000 mile realignment, but I don't think that matters.

Struts/springs might make some noise. Bounce them by pushing up and down on the car to try and replicate it.
Otherwise, it'* most likely a center sway bushing that fused to the sway bar. The rubber squeaks when you hit a bump. This can be fixed by removing the bushing and replacing or simply wrapping the bar with teflon tape.

Well, I popped the hood and dropped all 200+ pounds of me onto each strut tower. No squeaking. Same silence from the rear struts, so I'm guessing it'* just the sway bar center bushings.
How hard are those to inspect/replace?

Sounds easy enough. I flew through the sway bar endlinks (well, the front ones at least), so I guess center bushings are +1 on the difficulty scale.
For now, I'll give the sway bar a good whack (or a good pothole) and see if that unsticks it until I have a couple bucks to invest on bushings (after I pay you what I owe, of course).
Thanks for all the help, everyone.

My wifes van made noise. I put it on ramps then went under the van and started pushing up and down until I could hear the noise. Then I tracked it down to a sway bar end link. It was the small ball joint on the end link, worn out and had play.
