is there anyway to disarm the air bag system?
i was wondering if there is any way to disarm the air bag system in my 95 bonneville. reason why because my pass rear floor is always getting wet with water all the time, its like a small pond there and i know the air bag module is located under the pass side seat. with the rear being wet all the time iam afraid that this my cause a short and deplot the airbag while iam driving, i want to prevent this from happening so i was curious if there is a way that i can disarm the airbag so it wont blow up due to the water in the rear of the passenger side.

I'm not too sure on these instructions.
Put steering wheel so the wheels are straight. Put ignition to LOCK position and remove key. Remove the airbag fuse(not sure which it is for a 95). Then you have to dig into the dash to get at a connector near the base of the steering column. A Chiltons would probably be your best friend to get this done. Also your Air Bag light will probably be lit.

If that module get'* wet I highly doubt that it would deploy the bags......Only thing it does is monitior the SRS system for trouble codes, and will not deploy the bags unless it recieves an impact signal from the front sensor located uner the hood latch at the top of the radiator support......But you can just pull the SRS fuse and that can disarm the system, but make ABSOLUTLEY SURE that you either have your key off and not in the ignition, or have the battery disconnected.

Disconnect battery, WAIT 30 minutes. The Air Bag system has a capacitor built in, incase the battery is disconnected in a crash. Then the system will be discharged, and safe to disarm via the fuse. If you turn the ignition on the light will be on until you replace the fuse.
