Default Goodbye Bonne :(

I think my car is gone for good :( My car no longer runs properly and the service engine light is on. When you start to drive it there is no power and the rpms run high. Im not sure what is wrong with it but I suspect the tranny and there is smoke coming out of the back of the engine. I guess its time to save up to buy another car. This car has had problems ever since we bought it and weve gone through a rebuilt tranny and used engine with this thing and still the problems keep coming. I wish my dad had gotten a new engine instead of used one but he thought I was going to wreck it so he chose to put in a used one. I dont blame him though I blame myself because I was so anxious to start driving again and even though this car had oil leaks like crazy I still wanted to buy it so its pretty much my fault. It was somewhat fun while it lasted but now I think I must say goodbye to the Bonneville. I may decide to part this out if it turns out the repair will be costly and luckily I didnt install the exhaust system yet which I wont be selling. Does anybody know of a good reliable car that I can look for in the used market? I'll even go for a freakin Civic, thats how bad Im feeling but I just want a new car and we will need one since this was our second vehicle.

Have you thought about putting a good, used engine in it before you call it quits? You could find a used engine much cheaper than what it would cost to buy another car.

Well Im pretty much fed up with this car already and we just put in a used engine like not more than 6 months ago. Id consider it but the problems may be elsewhere as well. I saw coolant dripping from the heater inlet hose so that just made me feel worse. Id like another Bonne and I found a couple of goods ones on cars.com in my area but I would have to save up for a few months so I just want to get like a good running anything for the time being so that I can finally go to school and stuff.

Actually wait! If a car rolls back into another car off of a towing ramp can it cause any damage at all to the tranny? It rolled back then jumped a curb and hit the front of this car. Cause if thats the case than the towing company owes us much more than body damage to the rear. And then I could get an SSEi!

Doubtful that it did any damage to the transmission...unless it cracked the case. For that to happen it would have to have been hit very hard!

Hmm turns out no fluid is leaking and I cant see any damage to the tranny. What should I do guys? This rebuilt tranny has a warranty on it so should I take it to Pontiac and see what the problem is? It still drives but it sucks bad and I dont want to risk damaging it or paying another $60 tow truck.

If you are looking for another used Bonne, get one with the Series II motor, you won't regret it. Even in n/a form, this is 35 more hp than you have right now.

Yea I know Ive been wanting an S2 for a long time. Hopefully things will work out the way I want them to because I just found a 96 SSEi fully loaded with the original owner with only 88k miles for $6000.
