Default Locking lug nut key

lost the key/socket for my locking lug nut. Does anyone know what is the closest socket that I can pound on the nut to get it off. I will replace all of them with regular nuts. I'm guessing 20mm. Thanks

hah, thats a tough one.

but why would you want to replace them with regular lugs? just buy another locking lug set! otherwise you can just go to a yard and grab them off a car with a set and a key. much better than none IMO

He'* going to replace them with regular lugs so he never has another problem.

The sizing of the socket you use will depend on the lugs. I believe 20-22 is your range. Also consider some of the shops in the area that may have skilled mechanics with experience removing busted or missing key lugs.

A buddy of mine can do it with an air chisel. I DO NOT recommend anyone ever try it this way. It'* amazing to watch though.

This should be about the right size....

I had the locking lugs, up until I acttually had to pull a tire. Then it was back to pep Boys to buy 4 normal lug nuts. Neat idea, I guess, but what a pain in the tuckus to have to track down one more tool just to remove a wheel...

Unless the rims are steel and the lugs stick out (not to mention a VERY good set of vice grips) those won't help much John.

Finding a key that will work at a wrecker will be a neat trick. I recall 16 different combinations, and he still has to get the old ones off. :?

Take it to a tire shop. They'll blast them off quickly for you, and might not charge you.
