Default CODE 41

My car keeps reading code 41 and is causing the service engine soon, light to stay on.

Would replacing the cam sensor be difficult to do? Please supply me with any info. Thanks, jesse

This is typically an LN3 issue, back when the cam sprocket was rubber, I hope its just the sensor in your case

Ok. I done this fix myself and I'm only 18 So its not hard. The sensor os behind the water pump pulley. So what I done was Removed the belt, and removed the four bolts holding on the pulley. I couldn't get it out because of the mounts, but I didn't need to take it all of the way of anyway. Then I unbolted the sensor with what i could remember a 13mm socket. I unhooked the wire on the sensor, and it just slid right out. The I put the other one in. This was a little harder than taking it out, but I got it. Then I put the pulley back on and the belt. Then I test started it and the light didn't come on. Then I hooked the scanner up and cleared the code. Overall this was a $30 , 30 minute job. And it was acually kinda fun.

I still have not replaced the CAM Sensor, because ot the cold weather in Chicago. I did however noticed that the wiring hardness that passes under the Gator belt was rubbing against the belt. The plastic casing and two wires became exposed. I taped the wires and the casing and quick tied the wiring closer to the engin so that it would not rub against the belt. I followed the wires and they lead to the CAM Sensor.

I think there was a short and it caused my CAM Sensor to go out. When the weather warms up I will change the sensor and hope the "Service Engine Soon" light will turn off.

I will keep you guys posted.
