I was just wondering if anybody notices how the gas gage seems to move faster after it gets to half tank and lower. Both my 98 SSEi and 88LE both seem to do this.

Normal. The bottom of the tank has rounded corners, not square. Less volume in the lower part of the tank.

Yes, my '92 and '93 both do that, and although it may be considered "normal" for these cars even though it'* nonlinear, I sure hope my next car has a gage that'* "normal = linear = more accurate"...

Well, after I fill up my car with gas it shows on the gauge that I don't have any! Different than what your saying but something worth saying

Yeah my car always does this too. I always wondered about that. Hey, speaking of gas tanks, If it were avalible, would it be beneficial to have an aluminum gas tank?

For those of you who see the gas gage read empty when it'* full, there'* service bulletin for that. It might be posted in the techinfo section. It involves adding a 2,000 Ohm resistor across 2 wires in the wire harness on the floor near the left rear seat. I have the detailed info somewhere - if you need it, I'll look for it.

Note, however, that it only fixed the problem on my '92 for a few weeks; now it still does this every so often.
Also note that my '93 has never had this problem since I bought it 4 years ago.

My gauge seems to work fine in the top half or top 1/3 of the tank, but it never reads very accurately in the bottom half. It'll show over a qtr tank left when the low fuel light comes on, and the low fuel light seems to be accurate, because it'll only hold 2 or 3 gallons. So I've learned to trust the light, when it comes on I fill up.

Does that mean my gauge is bad, and not the sending unit??
