Tranny Flush
I am probably going to go for a tranny fluid change as a preventative measure soon (not having any issues, but my fluid is looking to be a tad on the dark side). I have 2 options from the place I'm going, what would you guys choose?
#1 - "With our regular transmission service we will remove the transmission oil pan, drain the fluid, inspect the pan for signs of wear, clean filter (if applicable), replace the pan gasket and add new transmission fluid." (New filter is extra) - $29.95 CDN.
#2 - "Our total transmission service includes all of the above services plus replaces the 2 to 3 gallons of fluid that has never been changed before. Our flush service does not flush through the cooler lines. We flush through the transmissions own filter port which is the natural way for the fluid to flow through the transmission. Our system does not harm seals, gaskets or connections." (New filter included) - $99.95 CDN

Well it is not hard to do your self article is in tech info.
But if you are not going to I would go ahead and do the full one so it gets the fluid in the torque converter

I have mine flushed once a year VIA the cooler lines at a shop, however, i change the filter myself once a year as well

Did mine the 2nd way. Didn't see any difference between having the transmission pump force clean fluid through everything while flushing or pumping the old fluid through the transmission during regular operation. That way the torque converter fluid is changed also. Have 173,000 km on trans and it has worked perfectly since the fluid flush and filter change 10,000 km ago.

The last time I bought a Delco filter, it was about $25. I reused the gasket (rubber one), but if a cork one has to be used, I don't think it was included.
