windshield washer fluid odor
When ever I use the windshield washers on my 97 SSEi I get the odor from the fluid in the car. It is really bad when the heater fan is on. I have removed the plastic cover and inspected the lines and squirters and every thing appears ok. Basically no leakage there but the smell must be getting in from that area as that is the source for air for the heater fan. Is this common and is there a cure for the problem. Thanks Dan

It is common.. I get that too when the heater is on. Basically it draws the air in from just in front of the windshield so it will draw in the smell of the fluid...

Was thinking a possible cure might be redoing the squirters so thay are attached to the wipers instead, that way the fluid stays higher up on the windshield. My Astro van has this type. Dan

you could do that, or, you can wire the windshield washer fluid switch, to send a signal to the climate control to go into Auto, or recirculate. THis way you spend 5 hours finding out how to do that and wire it up, rather than just pusing a button..........therefor adding to the "technology" that the bonneville already has..........
