Weak battery, gauge 'flapping', engine died
Went on some errands today, everything normal. Then, I took my boys to the jump center, there about 2 hours. Went to start our '98 SE, just relay clicking. Called my MIL for a jump, and it started as usual. Made it less than 2 miles down the road, and the wipers started cutting out, the gauges started going crazy, the speedo went to 80mph, and then it died. Thinking maybe the computer went, but as always, I'll submit it to those more knowledgeable than I! Any thoughts?

What is the voltage measured at the battery posts while the engine if off?
What is the voltage measured at the battery posts while the engine if idling?
How old is the battery?
Are the terminals tight and clean?

Ok, so the battery was out of our previous car, a '94 Ciera. It was dated 12/14, so it didn't owe anyone a thing. Plus, it was a cheap Valucraft with the 1 year warranty! I figured I'd start w/a clean slate, bought a new Duralast Gold, and a fresh positive terminal, as the replacement on there was getting fuzzy. Soaked the wire ends in warm water with baking soda. Started right up, and drove around the neighborhood a couple miles. Voltage gauge was around 14 before and after. It'* going down to 29 tonight, so I'll start it before I go to work, and make sure nothing'* draining it. Thanks again for the help!!
